South Ruislip School Mural Collab
Project type
Mural
Date
September 2026
Location
London
I’m currently working with a local school to develop a collaborative mural that will reflect the identity and values of its school community.
As part of the project, I’ll be running workshops where each child will be invited to create a simple symbol representing something meaningful to them, such as friendship, family, happiness, courage, nature, their favourite thing about school, or something they would like to see in the future.
We’ll explore how symbols can communicate ideas without using words. These individual symbols will then be brought together to create the mural, making the finished piece more than just a decorative artwork. It will become a visual record of the school community, created collaboratively with the pupils.
From a distance, the wall will read as one cohesive piece of artwork. Up close, children and staff will be able to recognise individual symbols, marks and patterns contributed by the pupils, giving them a sense of ownership and connection to the finished mural.
